Jamestown NY

Mayor Sam Teresi declares Jamestown, NY a Community of Peace in June, 2004.

In November of 2010, the children from the Gustavus Adolphus Children’s Home made two sections for the Children’s Cloth of Many Colors – one to permanently join the larger quilt and another to send to children in the Nyumbani Orphanage outside Nairobi Kenya.  Accompanying letters were sent to the children.  The Nyumbani children are making CCMC sections for the larger quilt, and to send on to children in another orphanage.  These sections are seeding the new “orphans” subsection of the Children’s Cloth to be featured at the upcoming Fifth Summit of the Global Alliance for Departments and Ministries of Peace, in Cape Town South Africa in early October of 2011 (click here for more info).

Lakewood resident Nancy Anderson will be accompanying COP founder Gerry Fahey Eitner (originally from Jamestown) to Cape Town, where Gerry will be presenting the Communities of Peace program to international peace delegates.
