Chautauqua County NY

County Executive Mark Thomas declared Chautauqua County a Community of Peace on June 10, 2004.  This presentation was made at the July 4^th program at Chautauqua Institution.  The entire 1/3 mile-long Children’s Cloth of Many Colors was displayed for the day’s celebration.

For this event, founder Gerry Eitner spoke on the Communities of Peace’s  programs in Chautauqua’s amphitheatre, to an audience of 4,000 people.  An international group of children, many in country costume, participated in the program as they displayed sections from the Children’s Cloth of Many Colors. An estimated 11,000 people were engaged in the programs throughout the day. 

Children from Chautauqua Institution’s Boys and Girls Club created a CCMC section for the July 4^th program.  Other presentations from Chautauqua County were made by children from Westfield, Jamestown and Falconer.
